Boneddwr mawr o’r Bala
Ryw ddiwrnod aeth i hela
Ar gaseg denau ddu
Ar gaseg denau ddu.
Ha ha ha ha ha
Ar gaseg denau ddu.

Carlamodd yr hen gaseg
O naw o’r gloch tan ddeuddeg
Heb unwaith godi pry.

O’r diwedd cododd lwynog
Yn ymyl tŷ cymydog
A’r corn a roddodd floedd.

Yr holl fytheid redasant
A’r llwynog coch ddaliasant
Ond ci rhyw ffarmwr oedd.

Wrth ddod yn ol o’r hela,
Daeth y boneddwr tila
I groesi hen bont bren.

Ond ‘chana i ddim ychwaneg
Fe syrthiodd efo’i gaseg
I’r afon dros ei ben.

A great gentleman of Bala
One day he went hunting
On thin black mare

The old mare galloped
From nine o’clock until twelve
Without once raising a worm.

Finally he raised a fox
Near a neighbour’s house
And the horn gave a shout.

All the hounds ran
And caught the red fox –
But it was some farmer’s dog.

When coming back from the hunt,
The gentleman became lame
While crossing the old wooden bridge.

But I’ll not sing more;
He fell with his mare
Into the river over his head.
